“STORYTIME”: A FUN WAY OF LEARNING ENGLISH
During the first term, we have been very lucky to have had the visit
of the actor Alan J. Kennedy. He presented three plays which were
addressed to every student at school, according to their level.
-
1st Cycle:
“Don’t Get Off the Horse”
-
2nd Cycle:
“One Day in Langtale”
-
Bachillerato: “The
Swan Maiden”
The novelty is that it was an interactive theatre, which requires
students’
participation, since they have to go out to the stage and
act like real actors.
The
English teachers are very pleased because our students were able to
understand a play in English, at the same time they had fun, due to
the fact that the play took part in a young background.
But nothing better that our students’ opinion to show how successful
this activity has been and we hope to enjoy it again next year.
“I think it was.quite funny since, supposedly, most of us usually
get bored when watching a normal play. But this one was special, as
we participated. Furthermore, the bagpipe caught our attention
because we are not used to seeing a bagpipe. All in all, it was fun
and at the same time, you knew what happened on the stage, since we
do not usually understand plays in English, but this way we did.
Paqui Miralles Herrero”. (1st Bachillerato B)
“The play was very original and funny since we were the actors. We
had already learned the vocabulary in class, so it was easier to
understand the dialogues. We learned English at the same time we had
fun. This is a good way of learning. Everybody participated one way
or another, and the play was a success. We are looking forward to
having another experience like that”. Catalina Sánchez Costas (3rd
ESO C)
“The play we watched was very interesting and funny because almost
everybody participated and because we laughed a lot. As the play was
going on, we could understand it, the main reason being that we were
the protagonists”. Agustina Pruckute (3rd ESO)
“I really enjoyed the play because I thought it was very funny and
interesting. We had not ever heard a Scottish story before. The
thing I most enjoyed was when he began taking people from our class
out to the stage. That was what made the play more exciting and
funny so that we were not bored or we did not think it was a boring
story”. Jasmine Birch (1st Bachillerato B)
